9 Ensuite Ideas That are Sure to Make Your Friends Jealous

Here are our 9 top ideas and tips for redoing your ensuite bathroom, that are sure to have your guests talking.

1 – Brighten Up Your Space with a Skylight Window

Ensuites often end up with tiny, useless windows, which are meant to light the whole space. This isn’t an effective way of letting the natural light flood into your bathroom. Instead, a more efficient way of letting it in, is by implementing a skylight window. Try putting your bath below the skylight, to frame it and allow the bath to take centre stage.

2 – Make Clever Use of Storage

Using lots of storage is a great way of hiding away all the bits and bobs scattered across your ensuite that you don’t want anyone to see. Allowing your ensuite to get cluttered can make it appear over-run and cramped, and like you have less space than you really do. Try hiding away storage, like with this clever mirrored cabinet. It appears to be just a mirror, but doubles up as useful storage, with a wealth of space and shelving available inside for all your products.

3 – Try Mounting Your Taps Onto the Wall

Instead of having your taps attached to the actual basin, it can be a great alternative to plumb them into the wall, saving space on the sides of your sink. This method is a stylish way of creating a luxurious and clean look across your sink area. This can be further enhanced by using metal hardware in untraditional colours, like copper or black.

4 – Create the Appearance of Space With Mirrors

Using mirrors is the oldest trick in the book when it comes to making a space appear larger. It can skilfully reflect the surroundings in your room to create an illusion, tricking the eye to believe there is more room than there really is. Perfect for those small and poky ensuite’s.

5 – Try Putting a Boarder Around Your Room

By bordering your walls, you can add copious amounts of interest to what can otherwise be a boring space. This is also a great technique if you’re apprehensive over going all out with a colour or pattern, as you can bring it into the space subtly and minimally.

6 – Use Your Bedroom Space to Create a Hotel Atmosphere

If you’re struggling with the space you have available in your ensuite, but have your heart set on that beautiful tub, try implementing a five star hotel room vibe by integrating it into the bedroom. It can be a luxurious way of not only saving space in your ensuite, but also transforming your bedroom into that fancy hotel of your dreams.

7 – Get Creative with Lighting

Lighting is an important feature when it comes to the bathroom. The ensuite is where we get ready in the morning and do our final checks for the day, so its important to be sure you can see what you’re doing with good lighting. Lighting your ensuite doesn’t always have to be a singular ceiling light in the centre of your room. For example, this mirror lighting is perfect for getting ready in the morning, as it illuminates only that area of the room, and your face. It can also be a great idea to use some lighting in the shower, so when you’re using the shower you can always see what you’re doing.

8 – Double Up Your Towel Rail as a Radiator

People often overlook towel rails and don’t consider how useful they can really be. Not only will they heat up your towels, but also your whole bathroom. So there is no need for a separate radiator in your space. There are some beautiful towel rails available on Bathroom Mountain, so you can find one that suites your ensuite.

9 – Be Sure to Plan your Space

This doesn’t have to be scary, technical drawings. Simply grab your tape measure, a pen and paper, and make your way around the space noting down key measurements. Take these measurements and create a quick sketch of the space, to visualise what space you have available, and what will fit in each area of your ensuite. This is always a good idea with particularly small spaces, as you can see how much area you have left to work with once you have implemented the essentials.
