How to Choose the Best Shower Enclosure for your Space

This time we’re going to give you the best tips to help you choose the best shower enclosure for your new bathroom. Careful planning and measuring will ensure you get the greatest shower possible!

1 – Go for a Quadrant Corner Shower

Keep things feeling spacious with our London Brushed Brass 6mm Quadrant Shower Enclosure. Choose a corner quadrant if your bathroom is square shaped or where there is room to space each item evenly – bath in the opposite corner for example, and basin and toilet on the other walls. Our London enclosure is also available in Matt Black and Aluminium, and in sizes 800mm x 800mm and 900mm x 900mm. If you have the space, there’s an offset version too, where one side is 1000mm.

2 – Bi-Fold for Compact Spaces

A straightforward way of creating a neat shower room is to choose a bi-fold shower enclosure, such as our London design. The vertical inwards-opening hinge lets the shower door fold inwards neatly, giving great internal access without taking up exterior space. This design is available in a large range of sizes, the smallest enclosure is 700mm x 700mm so is an excellent choice for compact bathrooms, where you want to make the best use of your space.

3 – Black Sliding Door Enclosure

A spacious shower enclosure can include a sliding door, and our Oslo Matt Black enclosure is a good option for larger spaces where the family require a good amount of ‘moving around’ floor space. This comes in 1000mm, 1200mm and 1400mm widths and 800mm and 900mm depths. If you want the same look but already have a shower alcove then you can simply choose the sliding door set on it’s own.

4 – Choose a Walk-In Wet Room Shower Design

Choose a walk-in shower or wet room shower design for your enclosure if you have a good amount of floor space to use, and you want a ‘unrestricted’ enclosure. You’ll need to play close attention to the drainage system and the evenness of the floor, but it’s worth it to have such a sleek and minimal look. Our Copenhagen Walk Through Wet Room Shower Glass Panel can be used as a solo panel or combined with slender 250mm Return panels to keep the spray enclosed – which can be a good idea if you want a strong shower spray. Also in 1200mm width.

5 – Go for the Pivot Option

Fit a pivot door into a ready-made tiled enclosure for a simple approach. This is our London Brushed Brass door, 800mm wide – other sizes are available. It’s a good choice if you want an outward-opening door, and can be installed for left or right handed opening. The Brushed Brass finishes definitely adds a smart touch, team with one of our shower trays which are available in Matt White, Black and Slate effect to suit all our enclosures.

6 – The Shower Bath Screen Option

Your bathroom may not be large enough for a separate shower, or perhaps you want to add a shower to your existing bath space.  A bath screen is the answer, and we have lots of designs to choose from – whether your style is Aluminium, Brushed Brass or Matt Black. And we have fluted effect glass as well as plain glass, so there is definitely something to suit all aspiring designers … This is our Geneva Fluted Effect Bath Screen, 800mm wide. Return panel designs are also available to suit L or P shaped baths.

7 – Wet Room Shower Glass with Pivot Return Panel

Give yourself or your family members a little bit more manoeuvrability with a wet room panel that has a pivot return panel. The return panel (the small ‘extra’ panel, 250mm wide) which creates the L-shape, adds a bit more containment to the spray. Going for a wet-room scenario means the floor is completely flush, so access is clear and perfectly flat. 8 – Pick Your Shower Tray Size

A good starting point is to pick the size Shower Tray that will best suit the space available – our selection is huge, and it’s worth drawing a floor plan and working out the best spot for your shower enclosure. Consider the existing drainage options (for shower, bath and taps), what wall is most suitable for the shower fittings and head, and plan from there. Our options include this Cairo composite shower tray, 1200mm x 800mm. Matt Black and Slate effects also available, as well as Low profile models, such as our Berlin range, which suit walk in shower enclosures.

Conclusion

There’s different ways of approaching the choice of shower enclosure. If you’re starting with a ‘blank slate’ bathroom space, then choose your shape, size, colour and work from there. If you are working with an existing bathroom space and plumbing/drainage points, then you may need to use a different approach. Consider what floor space is available – it’s usually a good idea to go for the biggest tray you can, match the enclosure/panels to it, whilst taking into account ease of access. Door choice is impacted by the available floor space, so inward-opening and sliding door enclosure are a good choice if floor space outside the shower enclosure is limited.
