We’re still on a cleaning splurge and full of the joys of Spring, so here is an update on how to clean the bathroom sink, keeping everything all fresh and sparkling…
1 – Little + Often Works the Best
As we keep saying, a minute spent cleaning once or even twice a day will mean your new bathroom stays looking brand new for longer. If you don’t let dirt, grime and limescale build up in the first place, everything is much easier. Quick tip: Keep a stock of face cloths/flannels and put a fresh one out every day, using the ‘old’ one to do a quick wipe down of the basin and tap to keep things sparkling with very little effort. Shown here, our Harpr Navy Blue Combination Vanity Basin and Toilet.

2 – Going for the Double
An all-white Vanity arrangement means you definitely have to be at the top of the game regarding keeping everything clean and sparkling. Our Corsica White Wall Hung Vanity with Marble Top and double basins will benefit from a swift wipe over with a microfibre cloth as often as you like. Our ceramic basins have a beautiful shine, so will benefit from gentle cleaning rather than using any harsh abrasive products – and the same applies to cabinet and counter-top surfaces.

3 – On a Pedestal
If you have a pedestal basin, then the pedestal itself needs regular cleaning attention too. It’s surprising how the water splashes get everywhere! Try and get into the habit of wiping down the pedestal at the same time as the basin – this is our Denver set. A microfibre cloth works wonders – wring it out so it’s barely damp and wipe everything over – do the cistern and toilet at the same time if you’re feeling enthusiastic. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaning products to keep that newly-installed shine.

4 – Get a Spiral Plug-Hole Cleaning Brush
Flexible drain/sink/plug hole cleaning brushes are a wise investment and widely available from hardware and DIY stores. It’s probably more likely that you’ll use them for a bath or kitchen sink than a bathroom sink, but there’s no harm in having one or two to hand! If you’ve got a semi-recessed basin, such as our Capri Cotton White Vanity with Semi-Recessed Basin, remember to clean the join on the underside of the basin where it sits against the front panel of the vanity cabinet.

5 – The Focal Point Extra Wide Basin
The Elba Dawn Oak Wall Hung Basin Drawer Vanity is 800mm wide and, as such, is bound to be the star of the show in a new bathroom and needs to be treated accordingly! Keep it pristine with a very regular cleaning routine. If you’re a fan of natural cleaning products, try white vinegar in a spray bottle for a gentle cleaning regime. Use soft microfibre cloths and don’t let water splashes stand for ages, so you can avoid a build-up of lime scale around taps and overflows.

6 – Don’t Forget the Vanity Drawer Fronts
This beautiful basin sits on the Crete Fluted Linen White Wall Hung Drawer Vanity, and whilst keeping the basin shiny, spend a moment or two on the cabinet as well. Our Fluted fronts are made of engineered wood, and it’s worth brushing down the fluted sections with a very soft brush every now and then, as well as the usual regular wipe-down. Use a small spiral brush to keep he overflow clean and fresh – and if you use a spray cleaner with bleach, a squirt into the overflow is a bonus.

7 – The Sit-On Basin
Sit-on basins, such as our Troy basin shown with the Milos Cotton White Vanity, need to be sparkling inside and out. Once again, it’s a job for a microfibre cloth, and a regular routine will avoid the need for harsh scouring or abrasive products. If you use ‘shower spray’ for the shower cubicle, try it on the basin too if you’re in a hurry in the mornings! For natural solutions, try bicarbonate of soda mixed with water into a paste – don’t rub too hard, and make sure it’s all rinsed away afterwards.

8 – The Black Sink
Our spectacular Newark Matt Black Rectangular Counter Top Basin is most definitely a centre piece choice for the new bathroom. Keep it looking brand new by avoiding harsh abrasive cleaners, and, if you’re in a hard water area, be vigilant against limescale. The same goes for any matt black taps and shower fittings too – the trick is to keep the bathroom or shower room aired, don’t let condensation and moisture build up. A lint-free cotton or microfibre cloth is your best friend here!

Conclusion
Cleaning like a pro means getting a professional finish, so that not just the sink, but the whole bathroom looks like you have spent a couple more hours per week on a deep clean. If cleaning isn’t your thing, though, make yourself a promise to tackle a couple of minutes here and there to keep everything ship-shape and ready!
