Whether you’re revamping an old-fashioned bathroom or want to install a new en-suite shower, here are our best ideas on how to create a contemporary shower room.
1 – Choose a Simple Sliding Door
Position your new contemporary shower within an alcove for an easy addition. The alcove can be fully tiled, and for neatness and convenience should be the exact same side as the shower tray – this part of the design task is straightforward as our shower trays come in dozens of sizes! Logical sizing and planning bring a very simple and streamlined modern look to the whole scheme. Go for our brushed brass finishes for accessories and radiator to match the Hamburg Brushed Brass Easy Clean Sliding Shower Door… this is the 1000mm wide version, also in 1200mm and 1400mm widths with the side panels available for non-alcove installation.

2 – Choose a Fluted Wet Room Panel
A walk-in shower with just a simple single panel is the epitome of pared-down stylish design for a contemporary shower room. Less is more in this case, so every single detail has to be very carefully thought out. Installation has to be precise, the floor must be beautifully laid, sealed and levelled to ensure the water drains efficiently and doesn’t pool on the floor at any point. Shown here, is our Munich Fluted Matt Black Framed Wet Room Panel. And of course, the fluted glass adds a very elegant final flourish.

3 – Choose a Hinged Recessed Design
This layout, making the most of a rectangular layout, is a great design choice that can be put into action in various situations. It can make the most of a longer, narrow floor area, or use the space from an existing shower enclosure or alcove. Once again, a brushed brass finish exudes glamour and provides a contemporary look. We love the brushed brass hinge details… Shown here, our Helsinki Brushed Brass Premium Easy Clean Hinged Door. Also in 1100mm, 1200mm and 1400mm for larger spaces.

4 – Choose a Walk Through
A Walk-through layout is a very appealing idea for larger shower rooms, especially in a shared bathroom, or perhaps for a bathroom where the daily bathing process involves small children needing to be supervised! A wet room can be very sleek and simple, and is an attractive choice for those who don’t like being confined to a smaller enclosure, as a wet room definitely provides more elbow room! It can be installed with or without return panels – shown here with 250mm returns.

5 – Choose a Wide Single Shower Panel
For a simple showering solution in a larger space, a wider single shower panel is the solution. This Munich Brushed Brass panel is 900mm wide, and in true Bathroom Mountain style, there are many other widths to accommodate all sizes of layout. Options are 700mm and 800mm for smaller rooms, and for bigger rooms, go for 1000mm, 1200mm or 1400mm. Larger widths can reduce the need for a return panel, or combine the smaller sizes with a return panel to contain the spray in a more confined space.

6 – Choose an Extra Wide Hinged Enclosure
Give yourself a spacious shower by keeping it straightforward and going for a combination of tray and enclosure in a corner position. This is our generously sized Vienna Extra Wide enclosure, measuring 1400x900mm. It’s a luxurious space for one person’s use, but because of its hinged opening, it’s very accessible and easy to step into. Perfect for a contemporary layout, and can be specified for left or right-handed access.

7 – Choose a Black Grid Bifold for Supreme Style
Black framing is an enduring and stylish choice for kitchen glazing, particularly when extending into a dining/family room. Continue this bold look into the bathroom with our London Matt Black Grid options, which include the bifold enclosure shown here, as well as Pivot and Sliding choices to accommodate and bathroom size or layout. Complete the look with matt black brassware and accessories – basins and shower trays are available.

8 – A Wall Hung Toilet – The Perfect Addition for a Contemporary Shower Room
And finally… here’s a super-practical suggestion for a wet room. Fo for a wall-hung toilet as it allows the streamlined look to flow through the whole room. And of course, it makes it easy and quick to run the mop through to keep the floor clean and dry. Our Tulsa Rimless Wall Hung Toilet has a rimless pan to continue the ‘easy clean’ concept, and a soft close seat which has a quick-release mechanism for straightforward maintenance. Pair up with a Dual Flush Matt Black Push Plate for a bold finishing touch.

To wrap up your contemporary shower room makeover, remember that the right choices can make all the difference. From the bold style of the black grid bifold enclosure to the sleek functionality of a wall-hung toilet these elements create a modern, streamlined space that is both practical and stylish.
