Your new bathroom project may be to include traditional bathroom ideas into a Victorian house, or it could also be to add a classic and stylish look to a house that dates from rather more recent times. Whatever your timescale, we can help with traditional bathroom ideas…
1 – Choose a Traditional Toilet
Choosing an old-fashioned toilet, shown here with a low-level cistern, is a very positive way of creating classic style in the bathroom. We also have a high-level version available, too; this is the Hudson design, with the matching Hudson pedestal basin. Style the room with traditional tiles or for a rather sophisiticated look, go for painted timber panelling. Marble-style porcelain bathroom floor tiles, such as those available from our sister company, Tile Mountain, complete the look.

2 – Washstand-Style Bathroom Basins
Combine two classic bathroom style elements to get a traditional look… Here, we’ve styled our Colorado Oval Counter Top Basin, which is reminiscent of an old-fashioned washstand when combined with a vanity unit. Wall-mounted Beauly lever-operated taps with an elegant, curved spout have just the right feel as well. Anyone with difficulties gripping small tap heads may find operating level taps a bit easier, too. Also available as Basin Mixer, Bath Filler and separate Hot and Cold Basin taps.

3 – Traditional Vanity Unit + Close Coupled Toilet
Pale pink stands out beautifully against black panelling, and the close-coupled traditional toilet also looks neat and proportional in a smaller bathroom. Our Bermuda Cashmere Pink Basin Vanity is 500mm wide and is shown here with a brass accent. Continue the brass bathroom accessories theme with a towel ring and toilet roll holder from either our Sofia or Isla accessory ranges, which both come in a Brushed Brass finish.

4 – Traditional Bath-Shower Mixer
If you want a touch of timeless charm, a traditional bath-shower mixer can define a classic, traditional look. A Victorian bathroom may not have the convenience of a bath-shower mixer, such as our Nene Traditional design, but this will look perfectly at home with a regular or freestanding bath. Choose one that allows deck-mounted taps, such as our Highbury or Grosvenor models.

5 – Go for Golden Glamour
Add a gold-finish freestanding bath for a traditional Victorian bathroom look – but this one most definitely also has a contemporary influence too. Our Trafalgar Gold Effect freestanding roll top bath with bring a sense of luxury, especially if combined with porcelain bathroom tiles that have a hint of golden glam too. For a similar look, try Carrera Gold Marble Effect Porcelain Tiles, in large format 600mm x 1200mm, from our sister company Tile Mountain.

6 – The Classic Towel Rail or Radiator
The new bathroom suite will need a suitable classic style towel rail or radiator – or both! It’s handy to have a heated towel rail near the bath or shower, providing a cosy towel as you step out of the bath. In small bathrooms, that may be enough to heat the room, but in more spacious areas, you’ll probably need a separate radiator as well. This is the best of both worlds, it’s our Gibraltar Brushed Brass Heated Towel Rail with a central column radiator section. Work out what size radiator you need by checking with our BTU calculator.

7 – Choose Single Basin Taps
Separate hot and cold basin taps are a more authentic traditional choice, rather than a single-hole mixer tap. Although, of course, a mixer tap can still have traditional styling to git within a classic scheme. Our Nairn Traditional Hot Cold Basin Taps suit a traditional scheme, and are also available in a Brushed Brass finish for a warmer looking colour scheme.

8 – The Ultimate Roll Top Bath with Feet
For many of our customers, the epitome of a classic bathroom suite is one that includes a roll-top bath, wth either claw or ball feet. There’s a lot to choose from in our extensive range, whether you want whit, black, grey or chrome feet. We also have coloured baths as well, so there’s a very good chance that your dream colour scheme can be satisfied! Here’s our Grosvenor 1800mm roll top bath with White Claw feet to start you on your design journey… we think it looks fabulous against a black panelled wall.

Conclusion
At Bathroom Mountain, we have plenty of classic and traditional designs to include in your new bathroom project. Consider creating a theme to run throughout the house – for example, if you’re choosing antique-style Victorian light fittings in a brass or gold finish, go for similar styles and finishes in the bathroom. You can have all the advantages of a modern bathroom, but with the beauty of traditional bathroom ideas.
